PEDC Accepting Scholarship Applications
The Petersburg Economic Development Council (PEDC) announces the availability of a $1,000 Adult Education Scholarship. The scholarship is intended to assist a Petersburg resident to take post-secondary classes via distance education, or to attend a vocational training workshop.

Eligible applicants must be a resident of the City of Petersburg, 18 years or older, and enrolled or planning to enroll in a degree or certificate program related to their career goal.

The PEDC is a nonprofit organization charged with providing leadership and direction to the community's economic development effort. The PEDC strives to work in concert with residents to shape and direct the organization's investments in local projects.

Petersburg Featured In Red Lobster Commercial
Did the harbor look familiar in that Red Lobster commercial? You betcha. It’s Petersburg’s South Harbor. Red Lobster spent about a week filming their commercial in the harbor and nearby LeConte Glacier.

 

Petersbirg Adopts Economic Development Power Rate
The Petersburg City Council adopted an ordinance establishing an economic development power rate for new businesses or existing businesses who expand their operation. The rate is intended to The purpose of this rate schedule is to encourage economic development by encouraging capital investments, adding jobs, improving the efficient utilization of existing PMP&L facilities and diversifying its customer base.

Petersburg Seeks Input of Community to Help Guide Branding Process
The Petersburg Economic Development Council, Chamber of Commerce, and the City has partnered with North Star Destination Strategies to develop a community “Brand” for marketing the city to visitors, residents and businesses in the year 2012 and beyond. At the heart of Petersburg’s brand will be the its competitive differentiator -- in other words, what makes the community special so it can stand out in the marketplace.
