Communications & Utilities

Keeping your business connected and supplied is a priority for the excellent communication and utility companies serving Petersburg.

In our global economy, it is imperative for businesses to have a strong telecommunications system readily available. Professional companies dedicated to keeping your company linked worldwide serve Petersburg.

AP&T and GCI offer telecommunication services to keep you connected, including a new fiber optic service from GCI.

Utilities
Borough government and private venders provide electric, water, sewer, fuel oil, and propane gas services to residences and businesses.

The Petersburg Borough owns and operates the electric utility. The primary source of energy is the 20-megawatt Tyee Hydroelectric Power Project, which serves both Petersburg and Wrangell. Tyee presently has some surplus capacity available to serve Petersburg’s future expansion, and the Borough is actively pursing new sources of hydro power.

The Petersburg Borough offers an incentive power rate for new and expanding large commercial customers. More information in our business resources page.
